Who provides what
Sylvia’s Restaurant, 328 Malcolm X Boulevard, Harlem, New York 10027, operates the restaurant and provides every meal, event, catering order and event space described on this site. Menus, prices, minimums, availability and confirmations come from Sylvia’s and its events team.
ComfortCater is the software platform that powers the event-planning and inquiry experience on this site on Sylvia’s behalf. ComfortCater is not the restaurant, does not prepare food, host events or enter into event agreements, and does not set Sylvia’s prices or policies.
Using the site
You may use the site to learn about Sylvia’s, browse menus and plan or request an event for yourself or an organization you are authorized to represent. In return, you agree to:
- provide accurate, current contact and event information, and update it if it changes;
- send inquiries only for events you genuinely intend to discuss;
- not use bots, scripts or automated tools to submit forms, scrape content or interfere with the site, and not attempt to access staff or administrative areas;
- not use the site in a way that is unlawful or that harms Sylvia’s, ComfortCater or other visitors.
We may limit, suspend or block access to the site or decline an inquiry to protect the site, the restaurant or other guests.
Event inquiries are requests, not bookings
Sending an event inquiry starts a conversation with Sylvia’s events team. It does not reserve a date, room, menu or price, and no payment is taken when you send it. Your event is confirmed only when Sylvia’s confirms it, normally through a written proposal or event agreement.
Any “rough estimated total” shown while you plan is an estimate for planning only, based on the information you entered and published pricing at that time. It is not a quote or an invoice. Your final proposal states the actual pricing, fees and applicable taxes.
Sylvia’s may ask for more information, suggest a different menu, service, room, date or time, or decline an inquiry.
Event agreements, deposits and cancellations
Deposits, payment schedules, minimums, cancellations, service charges and similar event terms are set out in the event proposal or agreement that Sylvia’s issues and you sign, currently prepared and signed through Tripleseat. These website terms do not create, change or replace those terms. If anything here conflicts with a signed event agreement, the signed agreement controls.
Reservations, ordering and other providers
Table reservations for smaller parties are made through Resy, online ordering through ChowNow, and directions, gift cards, loyalty, scholarship donations and social pages open other providers’ sites. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices, and Sylvia’s and ComfortCater do not control them. A reservation made through Resy is governed by Resy’s terms and Sylvia’s restaurant policies, not by the event-inquiry process on this site.
Communications
When you send an inquiry, you agree that Sylvia’s may contact you about it by email, phone or text at the details you provide, using your preferred contact method where possible. Marketing messages are sent only if you opt in, and you can opt out at any time by contacting the restaurant or using the unsubscribe option in a message. If you ask for a returning-guest link, it is sent to the email address you enter.
Returning-guest access
Returning guests can sign in with a one-time link sent to their email address. The link gives access only to information connected to that email. Keep your email account secure and do not share sign-in links. Tell us if you believe someone else has used your link.
Intellectual property
The Sylvia’s name, logos, photographs, menus and text on this site belong to Sylvia’s Restaurant and its licensors. The software, design system and functionality that power the planning experience belong to ComfortCater. You may view and print pages for personal, non-commercial use in planning your visit or event. Any other use, including copying photographs or menus for commercial purposes, needs written permission.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The site is provided as is and as available. Sylvia’s and ComfortCater work to keep information accurate and the site available, but do not promise that the site will be error-free, uninterrupted or that any menu, price or availability shown is current until confirmed by the events team.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sylvia’s and ComfortCater are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the site, from reliance on unconfirmed information on it, or from third-party services linked from it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here changes the terms of a signed event agreement.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top shows the current version. Changes apply to use of the site after they are posted; they do not change an event agreement you have already signed.
