Information you give us
When you send an event inquiry, you provide the details the planning steps ask for:
- your name, email address, phone number and extension, preferred contact method, and an organization name if the event is for a company, school or nonprofit;
- the service you chose, the event’s name or nature, date, start and end time, guest count, preferred room, menu and package selections, bar service, dietary or special-request notes, and for delivery, the venue name, address and delivery instructions;
- how you heard about Sylvia’s, and whether you opted in to newsletters, text alerts and promotional emails.
If you ask for a returning-guest link, you provide your email address. If you call, email or message Sylvia’s directly, we keep that correspondence.
Information collected automatically
Server and security logs. Like most websites, the hosting service records standard request information such as your IP address, the pages requested, the time, and browser and device details, and keeps it for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
Anonymous site measurement. Public pages send a small, anonymous event when a page loads or when you follow a menu, reservation, call, directions or event-planning link. Each event contains only the page name, the action, the service type where one was selected, and a broad traffic-source category (for example “search” or “direct”). It does not contain inquiry answers, contact details, full referring addresses, search terms or any identifier, it sets no cookie, and it is not sent when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
Bot protection. When you submit an inquiry, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the submission comes from a person. That check processes your IP address and browser signals under Cloudflare’s privacy terms. Your IP address is also used to detect duplicate or abusive submissions.
No advertising trackers, third-party analytics scripts or social-media pixels run on the public pages.
Cookies and browser storage
- In-progress inquiry. While you plan, your answers are kept in this browser tab’s session storage so a refresh does not lose them. They are removed when you send the inquiry or when the browser session ends. They are not sent to us until you submit.
- Landing page. The page you arrived on and a broad source category are kept in session storage for up to 30 minutes so the inquiry can note which page led to it. No referring address or search term is stored.
- Returning-guest session. Only after you sign in with a one-time email link, a secure, HTTP-only cookie (
cc_guest_session) keeps you signed in. It is scoped to the email address you verified and does not track you across other sites. - Bot protection. Cloudflare Turnstile may set its own cookie on the review step, described in Cloudflare’s policy.
Staff and kitchen systems use separate sign-in cookies that are not set on public pages.
How we use information
- to review your inquiry, contact you, plan your event, and prepare a proposal or event agreement;
- to keep a record of your event and related correspondence;
- to recognize a returning guest and show information connected to your email address;
- to prevent duplicate, automated or abusive submissions and to keep the site secure;
- to understand, in aggregate, which pages help visitors find a menu, reserve a table or begin an inquiry;
- to send newsletters, text alerts or promotions only if you opted in;
- to meet legal, accounting and safety obligations.
How long we keep information
Inquiry and event records are kept for as long as needed to plan, deliver and account for your event and to meet legal and business record requirements. Returning-guest sign-in links expire after a short time and can be used once. Unsent inquiry drafts exist only in your browser. Anonymous measurement events contain no personal information. You can ask us to delete information we hold about you; we may need to keep records of events that took place or that are required by law.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Staff and returning-guest areas are protected by sign-in, and returning-guest access uses one-time links rather than passwords. No website or transmission is completely secure, so please do not include payment card numbers or other sensitive financial details in an inquiry; Sylvia’s will arrange any deposit or payment through its event agreement process.
Your choices
- You can browse the site without sending an inquiry; nothing you type is sent until you submit.
- You can opt out of marketing at any time by contacting Sylvia’s or using the unsubscribe option in a message. Messages about your event itself continue while the event is being planned.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete the information Sylvia’s holds about you by contacting the restaurant; we will confirm your identity first.
- Your browser’s Do Not Track setting turns off the anonymous measurement events.
Children
The site is intended for adults planning visits and events. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact Sylvia’s and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or our providers change. The effective date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
